Greetings from Admin

Dear Aggie Roberts Elementary School Community,
It is with immense pleasure and excitement that I extend my warmest greetings to each of you as we share the 2025-2026 school year.
For those of you I haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet, my name is Marissa Rasavong, and I am honored to serve as your principal. My husband and I have 5 children, three of which have graduated from CCSD, and two who are still in CCSD schools. When we aren’t cheering them on at one of their many sports practices or games, we are traveling; hopefully to places that we can swim! I also love singing karaoke, as our students and staff already know!
My journey in education began as a student on the Big Island of Hawaii, just like our assistant principal, Dr. Nohara! There I learned the value of being “akamai” with our “kupuna” and what motivated me to excel as a young learner. In fourth grade, I moved to Michigan, during the month of February! I went from “slippahs” and sun to snow boots and long winters. I gained the best lessons of persevering, adapting and learning to fit in where I was very different from my peers. Soon I learned to look for things we had in common and developed the social skills needed to make friends. Our assistant principal, Ms. Chase is also from Michigan. We grew up in the same area code but had never met until we moved to Nevada. She and I are huge Detroit Lions fans, which is probably why she and I have so much grit!
When I graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University, I was hired by the Clark County School District to become a teacher. I later obtained my Master’s degree from UNLV and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration from Nova Southeastern University. My experience with the Clark County School District spans over 20 years, a path that has been incredibly rewarding. More than a decade of that time has been spent right here at Aggie Roberts, serving as an administrator, and witnessing firsthand the incredible growth and spirit of our school community.
At Aggie Roberts ES, we are deeply committed to providing an education that nurtures the whole child. This means not only focusing on academic excellence but also fostering an environment where every student feels supported in their social-emotional development. We believe in promoting strong executive functions – skills like planning, organization, and self-control – which are crucial for success in all aspects of life. Our goal is to empower our students to become confident, independent learners who are well-prepared for their future endeavors.
I look forward to another year of collaboration, learning, and success alongside our dedicated staff, remarkable students, supportive families and community. Together, we will continue to make Aggie Roberts Elementary a truly special place.
Roadrunners Go!Marissa Rasavong Principal, Aggie Roberts Elementary School

I am honored to be your assistant principal and welcome you to another year of being a Roadrunner! I was born and raised in Frankenmuth, Michigan and then went to college at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan (where there was snow on the ground until June!). Originally, I didn’t want to be a teacher, I wanted to be a park ranger and go hiking everyday; that’s why I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Conservation. After a couple of years working with AmeriCorps and as an assistant at HeadStart PreK in Wisconsin, I found a passion for working with kids. This led me to going back to school to get my teaching degree.
When I graduated with my teaching license in 2006, there weren’t any jobs available in the midwest for teachers! This took me to Las Vegas where I taught 2nd and 5th grades for 10 years. I soon learned that I wanted to have a larger impact than just my own students, so I went back to school for a Master’s Degree in curriculum and instruction with a literacy focus. Then, I became an instructional coach who supported my school as well as other schools in my area with professional development, coaching, and engaging families in our school.
Eventually, I decided I wanted an even larger impact on a school community by building partnerships with families and the community, coaching and mentoring teachers, and collaborating with all school community members to help our students grow and achieve. So I went back to school and received my Master’s of Education in Administration from Sierra Nevada College.
When I have some free time, I love traveling anywhere, cooking, reading, and hanging out with my dogs. I love being a Roadrunner as we all are RRS while we learn and grow together!

Hi, Roadrunners! And welcome to any future Roadrunners!
Allow me to introduce myself; I’m Dr. Nohara. I was born and raised in the vibrant islands of Hawai’i before moving to the bustling city of Las Vegas, where I pursued my studies at UNLV. There, I developed my skills in elementary education, earning a bachelor’s degree, and furthered my knowledge in curriculum and instruction with a master’s degree. My passion for education led me to Nova Southeastern University, where I earned a master’s degree focusing on urban studies education.
To my former students, I was known as Mrs. Nohara. I enjoyed teaching elementary school students, and my favorite subjects were reading and writing. I enjoyed teaching those subjects so much that I decided to become a literacy coach so I could help even more students and teachers.
Before becoming a Roadrunner, I had the opportunity to support and guide teachers and principals across different cities in the United States as a leadership coach. This role allowed me to further develop my skills and understanding of effective educational leadership.
As a Roadrunner, I often get asked, “Are you a REAL doctor?” The answer is yes, but not the kind of doctor you visit when you're feeling under the weather. I tell students that I hold a Doctor of Education degree, which means my focus is on helping students learn and grow.
Here are some fun facts about me:
Mrs. Rasavong and I are from the same island in Hawai’i, but we didn’t meet until we were teachers in Las Vegas.
I enjoy traveling with my husband and three children.
This fact is about my husband, but I still think it’s fun. My husband is a fourth-degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
I enjoy being an Aggie Roberts Roadrunner because we are RRS (Respectful, Responsible, and Safe).
